On September 29-30, 2023, the deputy president of the Georgian Academy of Agricultural Sciences, academician Anatoli Giorgadze participated in the work of the international conference "Management of genetic funds of animals - problems, solutions, perspectives", which was held in the Republic of Moldova. He made a report at the plenary session.
The organizers of the event were the Moldovan Scientific-Practical Institute of Biotechnology in Zooengineering and Veterinary Medicine, the Department of Life Sciences of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry of Moldova and the National Agency for Research and Development of Moldova. The work of the conference included the following areas: animal husbandry and biotechnology (genetics, breeding, animal physiology and reproduction, food and feed technology, technology of production of livestock products), biological bases of gene management and conservation, local animal breeds, sanitary and veterinary measures for animal welfare and breeding, as well as food safety.
Scientists from Moldova, Georgia, Ukraine, Romania, Bulgaria took part in the work of the conference.
The conference was opened by the vice-president of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, Academician Boris Gaina. The conference participants were welcomed by the Director of the Scientific-Practical Institute of Biotechnology in Zooengineering and Veterinary Medicine, Professor Oleg Mashner.
A memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Academy of Agricultural Sciences of Georgia and the Scientific-Practical Institute of Biotechnology in Zooengineering and Veterinary Medicine.
