Scientific Conference in Kutaisi dedicated to 60-year Jubilee of Georgian Academy of Agricultural Sciences
On November 22, a joint Conference of georgian Academy of Agricultural Academy and A. Tsereteli University of Kutaisi was held. The Conference topic was: Subtropical Agriculture and the Perspectives of its development”.
The Conference was dedicated to a 60-year Jubilee of Georgian Academy of Agricultural Sciences and it was one of the events envisaged by the schedule worked out by the academy for the jubilee. The Memorandum of Cooperation between the two institutions was signed in which, among other forms of partnership, it envisages participation in conferences organized by either parties.
The Academy of Agricultural Sciences delegation included the administration and academic department members and the Academicians: Acad. E. Shapakidze, Dr. Giorgadze, Dr. M. Barvenashvili, Dr. R. Lolishvili, Academicians: G. Margvelashvili, R. Makharoblidze, J. Katsitadze, Z. Tsitishvili, N. Baghaturia, T. Kurashvili, and R, Jabnidze.
From the Kutaisi University the following persons participated: Rector of the Univrsity, Prof. G. Ghavtadze, Head of the Rector Staff R. Kopaliani; Dean of Agrarian Faculty Prof. Q. Kintsurashvili, also the staff members of Agrarian faculty, master and doctorate students.
G. Margvelashvili, the first Deputy of Parliament Committee of Education, Science and Culture addressed the Conference participants and wished a successful work. Welcoming Speech was delivered by the Rector of the University – G. Ghavtadze.

- 5.Perspectives of sericulture revival in Georgia. Acad. E. Shapakidze, GAAS.
- 6.Export potential of agricultural food product and innovative technologies for the activation of the process of export. Acad. N. Baghaturia.
- 7.Cattle Contagious diseases spread in Georgia. Acad. T. Kurashvili, GAAS.
- 8.Specificities of growth and development of early cultivars of tangerine introduced from Japan in Ajara region. Acad. R. Jabnidze.
The participants were shown the premises of the University, field laboratories, library, and sport facilities. In the testing plot, the visitors saw unique cultivars of subtropical cultures and the selection work is carried out by the staff of the Agrarian department of the University.
By the end of the Conference, the Academy delivered to the Rector of the University the Certificates for distinguished work carried out in the field of agriculture and also for the notable achievements in education and raising the future generation of agrarians and specialists in the field of agriculture.
