Scientific Conference in Gori Dedicated to 60-year Jubilee of Georgian Academy of Agricultural Sciences

On November 28, 2017, at Gori Euro-Regional Study University a joint Scientific Conference was held together with the Academy of Agricultural Sciences on the following topic: “ Current Challenges of Agrarian Sector in Kartli and Samtskhe-Javakheti Regions and the Perspectives to Overcome them”.  

The Conference was dedicated to 60-year Jubilee of Georgian Academy of Agricultural Sciences. The Memorandum of Cooperation between the two institutions was signed in which, among other forms of partnership, it envisages participation in conferences organized by either parties.   

The Academy of Agriculture was presented with a big delegation including the administration and academic departments of the Academy and the Academicians: Acad. E. Shapakidze, Dr. Giorgadze, Dr. M. Barvenashvili, Dr. R. Lolishvili,  Academicians: N. Chkhartishvili, V. Kvaliashvili,  researchers from Scientific Research Center of Georgian Agriculture N. Kakabadze; Study University of Samtskhe-Javakheti Z. Tkebuchava, and others.

 From Euro-Regional University the rector V. Sukhishvili, and Vice Rector A. Lapachi, University staff members and the students took part in the conference.

  The Ceremony of the opening of the Conference was as follows:

2. 2.Introductory Speech – Prof. Valeri Sukhishvili, the Rector of Gori Euro-Regional University;
3. 3.“A 60-year Jubilee of Georgian Academy of Agricultural Sciences – Achievement and Perspectives”.  delivered by Academician E. Shapakidze,  GAAS;
4. 4.Vegetable cultures: the quality and efficiency. Presentor: Prof. V. Sukhishvili;
5. 5.“ More than merely the Fruit” – Acad. Vazha Kvaliashvili, GAAS,

7. 7.“Optimal module of investment return in agrarian sector: on the example of Shida Kartli.”  Prof. A. Lapachi, ERIU.

10. “Vegetable growing in Samtskhe- Javakheti”. Dr. Z. Tkebuchava, MA. T. Pasanidze.

The conference participants were shown the premises of the University, laboratories, library, and sport facilities.

 The Academy delivered a collection of scientific articles published for the anniversary of the Academy, also books published by the Academy: “Viticulture  and  Agro-technology”, and “ Modern technologies applied in Horticulture”.
