February 11, is an International Day of Women Scientists.

           

maxresdefault 1 In 2015, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution declaring February 11, as the International Day of Women Scientists. The UN calls on states,
organizations and individuals around the world to promote the equal development of women in science and education.
The UN hopes that the difference between men and
women in science will be eliminated and all branches of science at all levels will be accessible for women.

Georgian Academy of Agricultural Sciences congratulates the Georgian women scientists on this remarkable day and wishes them further success in their scientific research,
especially in the field of agriculture, overcoming the obstacles that are currently caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

On the Scientific Competition of the Union of European Academies applied to Agriculture, Food and Natural Sciences (UEAA)

On January 21, 2022, at Georgian Academy of Agricultural Sciences a Meeting was held which discussed the terms of competition announced by UEAA.

The meeting was attended by: President of Academy Guram Aleksidze, Vice-President of Academy, Academician Givi Japaridze, Academician Elguja Shapakidze, Deputy President of Academy, Academician Anatoly Giorgadze, Academician-Secretary of Academician, Academician Gogola Margvelashvili, Academician Gogola Margvelashvili, Academic Science Department Academician-Secretary, Academician Revaz Makharoblidze, Academicians J. Gugushvili, G. Gagoshidze, Scientific Secretary Lasha Dolidze and M. Barvenashvili.

          It should be noted that the Georgian Academy of Agricultural Sciences has been a member of the Union (UEAA) since 2015. In 2018, the President of the Academy, Academician Guram Aleksidze, was elected Vice-President of the Union by the Supervisory Board, and in 2020, the President for a two-year term.

The President of the Academy, Academician Guram Aleksidze introduced the conditions of the scientific competition of the European Union of Academies. He noted that in 2022, U E A A, for the first time announces the scientific competition "UEAA Best Abstracts".

At the end of the year, the three best abstracts selected by the UEAA Steering Committee and judged by an international jury will be awarded three prizes. The winners will receive an award: "UEAA Science Prize for Best Abstract".

    The UEAA Best Abstracts Competition receives only abstracts that will be selected for a given period by the UEAA member academies (9 abstracts per year) and will be sent to the UEAA President. A UEAA member academy may submit only one report per month.

            Submitted abstracts may have already been published in a peer-reviewed scientific journal or orally presented at a scientific conference or academy session. Authors of abstracts of already published in journals should indicate the date of publication of the original work, name of the journal, web page, and check before submitting whether copyright is infringed. And, the date of the oral presentations at the sessions of the Academy should be indicated in the abstract of the Academy.

    The abstract should be informative, convey the essence of the research or review, and be understandable to the reader without having to read the publication itself. When referring to a published article, the abstract should contain only material from the main text of the publication.

      The UEAA Commission will only accept abstracts that meet the standards described in the instruction. The member academy which will first review the abstract is responsible for the format of the abstract to avoid rejection by the UEAA Commission at a later stage.

The received abstracts will be posted on the UEAA website, on a special "Scientific News" page according the topics: Agronomy, Forestry, Livestock, Environment and Territories, Economics and Politics, Agricultural Supply, Human Food and Nutrition, Agro-food and more.

     At the end of the year, all abstracts will be collected in the UEAA e-book, which which may appear in a printed version in case of financial support.
