The Georgian Academy of Agricultural Sciences expresses its deep sorrow over the death of His Holiness Ilia II, Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, Archbishop of Mtskheta-Tbilisi, Metropolitan of Bichvinta and Tskhum-Abkhazia.
It was a special honor and pride for our Academy that His Holiness was named an Honorary Academician of Georgian Academy of Agricultural Sciences.
His contribution to the revival of Georgian agriculture, land, and traditional industries is invaluable. The Patriarch’s constant care for the spiritual and material well-being of the country will always remain for us an example of great responsibility and love for the homeland.
In the form of the Patriarch, Georgia has lost a great spiritual father and chief shepherd, and the scientific community has lost a great colleague with impeccable intellect and wisdom, whose prayers and blessings have always strengthened activities in our field.
All members of Georgian Academy of Agricultural Sciences and agrarian scientists express their condolences to the Holy Synod of the Georgian Orthodox Church, the clergy, and to all of Georgia.
