The Account of the Scientific- Research Work carried out by the Scientific-Research Center of the Ministry of Agriculture held at Georgian Academy of Agricultural Sciences

On May 30, 2018, at the Meeting of the Presidium of Georgian Academy of Agricultural Sciences, listening and discussion of the Account of the Scientific- Research Work carried out by the Scientific-Research Center of the Ministry of Agriculture for the 2017 was held. The meeting was held in full correspondence with the Academy Charter, Ch.2.5b. It has all rights to listen, evaluate and assess the accounts presented by the Centers on the work done and give necessary recommendations to the organizations.  

The Meeting was directed by Academician Givi Japaridze, the Vice President of  GAAS. The Meeting was attended by the members of the Academy and invited guests.  Director of Scientific- research Center Prof. Dr. Levan Ujmajuridze, the Deputy of the Center, Nodar Khatiashvili, and by other directors of the Departments.

  The key presenter was Director of Scientific- research Center Prof. Dr. Levan Ujmajuridze, who declared about the projects fulfilled in 2017, gave a detailed account on scientific work carried out in the same year. The Center has been working on 4 main projects within the strategic plan of 2015-2020 year, defined by the Ministry of Agriculture of Georgia. Within this framework, which includes 90 scientists working on 52 scientific projects, the main directions are very diverse and embraces almost all branches of agriculture.

After the presentation, the work done by the Center was evaluated by Academician Secretaries and other members of the Presidium. It was unanimously stated that the Center for the period of 2012-2018 had achieved quite positive results in different directions of agriculture. Also, positive perspectives were outlined in the scientific work of the Center which places it among one of the advanced organizations.

Academician N. Chitanava, who positively evaluated the scientific work carried out by the Center, suggested organizing scientific conference together dedicated to land resource management problems.     

The head of the meeting Acad. G. Japaridze made a conclusion speech and positively evaluated the achieved results.  He also proposed to sign an agreement between the Center and the Academy which will be beneficial for both sides.
