The support of the Presidium of Georgian Academy of Agricultural Sciences

 

On June 29, 2018, The Open Meeting of Presidium of GAAS was held. Among other problems discussed during the session, the presentation of 29 VI 18 1Z. Tskitishvili, The Head of Department of Food Safety and Food Technologies. Dr. K. Dadiani, Deputy Director of Scientific Research Institute of Sanitary, Hygiene, and Medical Ecology was made on the topic: “The problems of Science of Food and Nutriciology and initiatives regarding the changes in BA study Programs.”

29 VI 18 2  Today, there is no University program at BA level in food safety which will provide the students with adequate knowledge in this field. Dr.K. Dadiani addressed the Presidium of GAAS with the proposal to support the Order N 120 of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia regarding “Adding to National Qualification Frame a new profession – Nutrition Studies, also acknowledge it as an interdisciplinary field of science.” 

Academicians Z. Tskitishvili, T. Revishvili, I. Vasadze and J. Gugushvili, N. Karkashadze, E. Shapakidze  and Doctor M. Gobejishvili, a member of  English Association of Nutrition Studies expressed their opinion regarding the problem raised at the meeting.29 VI 18 3

The meeting was summarized by Academician, Vice President of GAAS, G. Japaridze. The Presidium of GAAS unanimously supported the proposal discussed during the meeting.    

The Decision of the Academy will be sent to the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia for consideration.
